Genirix Systems Inc., the business entity behind the project, has a special license agreement from SGI enabling itself to push for a full implementation on Linux. But why only replicate when we can improve it with today’s technologies and various hardware acceleration.

So there is no surprise here, the MaXX Desktop is a highly tuned Workstation Environment for the Linux x86, x86_64 and ia64 platforms. Multi-core processing, NVidia GPU specific optimizations are among the things that makes the MaXX Desktop so fast, light-weight and stable.
